The Urgent vs The Important: My Latest Attempt To Prioritize My Schedule

One of my latest struggles has been in dealing with the urgent versus the important

Urgent & Important Defined

It's probably important to define the difference between the "urgent" versus the "important". I define the "urgent" as tasks that requires immediate attention. Just because something is urgent does not mean it is important. A good example of something that is urgent but not necessarily important in my real estate investing business would be returning a phone call to an unverified tenant buyer. I define "important" as something critical that has the potential to move my business forward. Lately, my "urgent" tasks of talking to buyers about my current inventory has outweighed my "important" task of delivering offers to sellers.

Blocking Scheduling

I've decided to try something old that's worked for me in the past to help address this. I'm going to block out three hours in the afternoon to dedicate solely to delivering offers. My hope is, this block of time will help me to reach my goal of delivering 15 offers per week. During this time, I will turn off all my other phone numbers and focus solely on delivering offers to my motivated seller leads.

Everything Else

The rest of my time will be spent on other tasks including managing my team, talking with buyers, recording my lessons and ensuring my business is moving forward. These are important activities as well, but the number one thing that is going to help my business grow is to get more offers out to motivated seller leads.

Offer Delivery Update

Yesterday I only delivered one offer. This is below my daily goal of delivering three offers. I will try to make this up over the next day or two.

What do you do to help filter out the important versus the urgent?
